Oregon State Representative, Sara Gelser (D-Dist. 16), will hold a town hall meeting on Monday, January 11th at 4:00PM in the Memorial Union Ballroom. The town hall is jointly sponsored by the Associated Students of OSU, the local chapter of SEIU, and the Faculty Senate. UPDATE: RJ Friedman, OSU College Republican President, has invited Sen. Frank Morse to speak against Measures 66 & 67 so the Town Hall doesn't represent a one-sided view. See RJ's note:
Hey everyone,
ASOSU, our student fee funded student government, and the SEIU were planning on having a measure 66/67 town hall with Representative Sarah Gelser in OSU's Memorial Union; they were going to use our student fees to pay for a one sided lecture on why Measures 66/67 should be passed.
Unfortunately for them, after speaking to the President of ASOSU (it was not him that made the decision to only invite Representative Gelser) I invited Senator Frank Morse, our state Senator who opposes the tax measures. He will be there tomorrow and he will be given equal time as Representative Gelser ... if they want to have their town hall that is. I don't know about you, but my student fees are not to go towards a biased agenda. I hope you all show up in support of Senator Morse and justice at large. Remember; Democracy is not a spectator's sport - it requires your active involvement.
Come by our booth tomorrow (Monday) around 3:30 to meet Senator Morse, or come to the town hall at 4:00 in the MU Ballroom.
Join the facebook event group.
See you tomorrow at 4pm in the MU,
RJ Friedman
